Quarantine Art Becomes 2021 Calendar Art
First of all -- I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. These are scary, scary times.
Since the start of lockdown, I've been futzing around with alcohol-based markers. I challenged myself to draw something for the Beauty in the Backyard art competition hosted by the the University Heights Arts Association. I decided to draw the yard at my parents' house. The word beauty doesn't even begin to describe their backyard because my mother seems to want her neighbors to believe that they live in The Secret Garden. One day I'm going to open their back door and end up in Narnia.
To my surprise, the competition picked my drawing to be one of their calendar selections! And when I say "to my surprise", I was stunned. The competition was stiff, and this is the very first art contest I've ever done. They are doing another competition in October called "Capturing the Garden." I'm already batting around a few ideas.
I hope you are staying healthy and well.
